Artist's Description

I photographed this self-portrait when i was bed-ridden but desperate to create something new. I put my camera and tripod at the end of my bed and turned it into a makeshift studio. I gathered the sheets around me and used my wall as a blank canvas. The background i added to the blank wall was the view from my bedroom window on a dreary Seattle day. I added the barb wire to both my hair and the background to symbolize how excruciating nerve pain is. It feels like a really bad sun burn, hot pins and needles, jabbing and stabbing pain. It hurts to wear clothes, even bed sheets are unbearable and it has no rhyme or reason.
